Accuracy
We publish what we can verify. Claims are attributed to their sources, numbers are checked against primary documents where possible, and uncertainty is stated rather than hidden. When we cannot confirm something, we say so or we leave it out.
Sourcing
We prefer named sources and public records. Anonymous sourcing is used only when the information is important, cannot be obtained otherwise, and the source's reason for anonymity is legitimate. An editor must know the identity of any anonymous source before publication.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by editors. Advertisers, sponsors and affiliate partners have no influence over what we cover or how we cover it. Commercial content is labeled as such and is produced separately from the newsroom.
Use of technology
We use software, including AI tools, for research, transcription, translation, drafting and production. No AI-assisted text is published until an editor has checked every figure and claim against the sources listed with the story, edited it and approved it. The editor is accountable for the result. Illustrative images that are generated or heavily edited are labeled. Photographs presented as documentary images are not altered beyond standard adjustments.
Headlines and social media
Headlines describe what the story says. We do not use misleading framing, manufactured urgency or withheld information to drive clicks. Social posts follow the same rule.
Updates and corrections
Developing stories are updated with a visible timestamp. Errors are corrected promptly and transparently under our Corrections Policy.
Conflicts of interest
Staff disclose financial interests, relationships or activities that could reasonably appear to affect their coverage, and are reassigned when necessary.
Community guidelines for comments
Comments are open so readers can add perspective, ask questions and point out what we missed. To keep the conversation useful:
- Stay on topic and engage with ideas, not people. Personal attacks and harassment are removed.
- No hate speech, threats, spam, advertising or repeated links.
- Do not post other people's private information.
- Corrections to the article are welcome; for the fastest response, also use our contact form.
Editors may remove comments that break these guidelines and may hold comments for review. Comments reflect the views of their authors, not of Zervaniq.
